EXODUS 3:13-15 — DIRECT CONTEXTUAL ENGLISH — 21CDotC Standard
Verse 13:
And Moses said to GOD: "Behold, when I come to the sons of Israel and say to them 'The GOD of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me 'What is His Name?' — what shall I say to them?"
Verse 14:
And GOD said to Moses: "I AM that which IS — I AM the ongoing BE-coming itself — I exist because I exist, I become because I become, I AM the Happening that causes all happening. Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel: I AM has sent me to you."
Verse 15:
And GOD said again to Moses: "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel: YHWH — HE IS — The One who IS and causes to BE — The GOD of your fathers, The GOD of Abraham, The GOD of Isaac, and The GOD of Jacob — has sent me to you. This — YAH — is My Name for eternity, for the vanishing point beyond the horizon, and this — YAH — is My memorial, My mark to be remembered and spoken for generation after generation.”
YAH is GOD.
GOD is YAH.
We should be absolutely clear about one thing, the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent creator and sustainer of all things seen and unseen in both the known and the unknown universe is YAH.
Though there are many names used both in scriptures and in the cultures and beliefs in this world that ALL refer to YAH, let it be known that there is actually only ONE omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent creator and sustainer of all things seen and unseen in both the known and the unknown universe.
YAH.
Isaiah 26:4 — DIRECT CONTEXTUAL ENGLISH — 21CDotC Standard
Trust, lean, take refuge in YAH — YHWH — for the vanishing point of eternity — for in YAH — YHWH — is the Rock, the Cliff, the Foundation Stone of the everlasting ages, of all worlds, of all that was ever created.
I. THE NAMES OF GOD
If I held up a shiny red-skinned fruit and told you it was a pomme, what would you think?
What if I called it a ping-guo? Or an ubhal?
What if I said tapu'ach? Or milo?
You would still know — it's an apple. The fruit doesn't change bec
ause the language or culture does.
The name YHWH appears 6,828 times as the personal Name.
Elohim ∼2,600 times as Power Source.
YAH ∼50 times as the breathed short form.
Theos 1,317 times in the Greek NT.
Kurios 665 times where the NT writers translated YHWH as Lord.
Include the other 1800+ other occurrences of names of YAH used in scripture in its multiple forms and we have a very solid case for YAH being known by many different names depending on language, culture and even context.
Just as my apple analogy shows, you can describe an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent creator and sustainer of all things seen and unseen in both the known and the unknown universe to many different cultures and religions and get many different names today.
Of the tens of thousands of known deities worshiped on the world today, only 16 meet the criteria for being YAH.
To tell another culture or group that their GOD is not the same as your GOD just because they call them by a different name is foolish, as well as prideful.
That would be like an American Christian who's GOD is technically Theos, telling a Jewish believer that YHWH isn't GOD because the names don't match up. Scriptures literally tell us YAH has many, many names
